Honesty and Integrity Working For You!

Mary Brizzell is serving her fifth term as Colonie Town Supervisor, having first been elected in 1995. Honesty and integrity are two of the key values that Mary emphasizes in her work. Mary graduated from Russell Sage College in Troy, and also completed graduate study hours in the master's program at Sage. She is a former school teacher.

Mary and her administration have an enormous amount of accomplishments. Since being elected, Mary's vision has made Colonie's government more efficient and she has cut property taxes by 10%. Town government and services have improved through the development of the Department of Public Works, a new Management Information Systems Department, and the Town Planning and Economic Development Department. We also have many new facilities such as The Crossings on Albany Shaker Road, new soccer fields and softball fields for South Colonie and construction has begun on new soccer fields for North Colonie. These changes and steady progress have established Colonie as one of the leading municipalities in the Capital Region. She has implemented many environmental improvements, more parks and events for you, and Colonie is one of the safest places to reside in the United States due to our outstanding police force.

Mary Brizzell has extraordinary leadership qualities and she has won numerous awards. During 2000 she was named one of the "100 Women of Excellence" by the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce. She is the recipient of numerous other awards, such as the Albany Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce Women of Excellence Award in Management (Public Sector) in 1997, and the Latham Business and Professional Woman's Association "Woman of the Year" in 1996 as well as in 1991. She is also a 1995 inductee into the Colonie Central High School Hall of Fame.

An active member of our community, Mary is involved in many organizations including the American Heart Walk of which she is co-Chair for the third year in a row, the Albany Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Latham Area Chamber of Commerce Community Enhancement Committee, and the Colonie Community Partnership (a founding member). Mary is a former Secretary and Assistant Treasurer of the Latham Business and Woman's Professional Association. She has served as President, Trustee, and Sustaining Member of the Friends of Pruyn House, and a Steering Committee Member of the Colonie Centennial Commission. She is a member of the Town of Colonie Historical Society and the North Colonie Wellness Committee.

As a life-long resident of Colonie, Mary cares about our Town's future and will work tirelessly to make sure that the trust you place in her will result in a benefit to you and your family. Colonie is a great place to live and out Town government is excellent. This progress is due in part to the outstanding qualities of leadership, honesty, and integrity that Mary brings to your Town of Colonie government. Re-elect Mary Brizzell your Town Supervisor this fall. You may vote for Mary on the Republican or Conservative party lines.
